Passwordstate won't load after Windows 10 Fall Creators update

On a Windows 10 machine that was hosting Passwordstate receive an 503 IIS error when trying to access the site, directly after it had the Fall Creators update applied (Build 1709).  Rebooting the machine doesn't resolve the issue.

Looking at the Application Pools in IIS, they were stopped, and restarting them also didn't fix the issue.  In the event log, you may see the following error:

Error message text:

The worker process for application pool 'PasswordstateApps' encountered an error 'Cannot read configuration file
' trying to read configuration data from file '\\?\<EMPTY>', line number '0'.  The data field contains the error code.

The fix for this was to navigate to C:\inetpub\temp\appPools, and delete any folders in here that are related to Passwordstate.  Then go into IIS, and recycle all the Passwordstate application pools, and the website should then begin working.

We have only seen this error in our own test environments, and may be something specific to our machine, but if anyone else runs into this issue, please report it here for the benefit of the community?
